Following the delay of Watch Dogs to Spring 2014, Ubisoft has also confirmed that it has delayed the release of its open-world next-gen racer The Crew.The Crew was never given a specific date, but was pegged to be released in Spring 2014. Ubisoft has now pushed the game back to its next financial year, meaning it will be released after April 1, 2014. Speaking about the delay of both The Crew and Watch Dogs, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said "our long term goal is to win the next generation. The tough decisions we are taking today to fully realize the major potential of our new creations have an impact on our short-term performance."

The game was previously scheduled to launch in November for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, and Wii U."Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming," Ubisoft said in a statement. "It is with this in mind that we've made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014."

The PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4 could use the DualShock 4's new touchpad to allow players to throw grenades, but no decisions have been made yet, DICE has said.The PS4 version of Battlefield 4 arrives for the next-generation console as a launch title, meaning its release is just one month away.Meanwhile, the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will support Kinect and may even feature head-tracking, DICE said last month.Battlefield 4 arrives first for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 29. The game's open beta launched on October 1 and ends tomorrow, October 15.

Limited edition 3DS XL's announced for Europe

Nintendo will release two new 3DS XL models across Europe this November, the company has announced.The first machine, which is themed around long-suffering sidekick Luigi, will be released on November 1 and will be available exclusively on the Nintendo store. The handheld console is coloured white, and dotted with silhouettes of Luigi in various shades of green.On November 22, Nintendo will release a Limited Edition 3DS XL to tie-in to the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The machine sports a Triforce on the top and bottom of the console, with the top half coloured gold and the bottom in black. When opened, the machine mirrors the two Triforces seen in the game's logo.

Angry Birds kart racer launching December 11

Rovio Entertainment announced today that its kart racing game Angry Birds Go! will be released in app stores worldwide on December 11. These include iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, and BlackBerry 10.The game was "built from the ground up" as a free-to-play title and features upgradable karts, numerous characters, and special powers in a "fully rendered" 3D world.Angry Birds Go! also features connectivity with Hasbro's Telepods, a line of physical toys that can be "teleported" into the game.Rovio said the December 11 launch of Angry Birds Go! is "just the beginning" for the kart racer, saying the company has "huge plans" for its first-ever racing game.

Mass Effect 4 may not feature the events of the Previous trilogy

BioWare has suggested that the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise may not engage with the events of the previous trilogy in any way.In an interview with Complex, Mass Effect 3 lead writer Mac Walters revealed that the studio want to create a title that feels distinct enough to stand on its own.Elsewhere in the interview, Walters also engaged with the criticism that Mass Effect 3's ending received. He reiterated that the studio took feedback on board and addressed as many issues as it could in the Extended Cut DLC, but that there were no plans to tweak things further.

Warface PC launching on the coming October 21

The PC version of Crytek's free-to-play first-person shooter Warface will be released on October 21, the developer announced today. A final round of beta testing for Warface concluded last month.Warface will be released on Xbox 360 in 2014. Though it will be "free" on Xbox 360, players must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription ($50/year) to play.Warface is Crytek's first free-to-play game. The PC version of the game is in development at the company's Kiev outfit and runs on CryEngine 3.Crytek claims the game--set in the near future--offers a cinematic experience with next-gen visuals, artificial intelligence, and physics.Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli defended the game's free-to-play model last year."We know that free-to-play games have a bad image," Yerli said at the time. "They have a bad reputation; 'it's pay to win, it's low quality.' I completely get that, but we are making free-to-play that's high quality. It's CryEngine 3; it's a big investment."
